Wishes for your Friday

I wish:

* I had a tasty biscuit to dunk into my morning coffee. Heck I'd even take a muffin right about now.

* I was a super smart wizz at HTML so I could make me a new blog background, button and what not. Not really loving the look of my blog which is probably why I've been a super slack blogger of late.

* It wasn't so hard to get a childcare place! 12 month wait at a few I've rung. WTF SHIT! Staying home isn't an option as we need the money *sob*

* The most perfect super duper gorgeous affordable car is just waiting at a caryard, begging us to take it home this weekend.

What are you wishing for right now?

Any amazing plans for the weekend?

Tired Baby + Santa

I've been meaning to take Malachi to get his photo with Santa for ages but just haven't quite gotten there. So today was the day. We were hoping that since it wasn't super duper close to Christmas the line up wouldn't be too bad... hahahaha yeah right!!

We decided we'd have breakfast out at a cafe since we hadn't done that for a while, do some shopping and then go and see Santa. Malachi had quite a big (well big for him) sleep in the pram of an hour or so, so we thought he'd be fine to see Santa.

We drove about half an hour to see Santa. We get there and ......... Santa was having lunch!! Even though he's only there for all of 3 hours!! Hubby wanted to leave and come back next weekend. AH no thank you! Not when the line up will probably be twice as long as it is now.

So we waited around for 45 minutes. Hubby just walking the store trying to keep the little one calm and happy. Me, just standing in line tapping my foot and watching the clock. By the time it was Malachi's turn to sit on Santa's lap he was so tired. His eyes were hanging out of his head.

So, no smiles for the camera. On the plus side though at least he was looking at the camera and not screaming the store down like the poor little toddler in front of us. Santa seemed a bit over it too by this stage. I put Malachi on his lap and he didn't even talk to my boy. How rude.

But I guess at least Malachi was happy and content, and a human!! The lady behind us brought her two rabbits to get their photo taken with Santa. I kid you not. She also decided she'd make a nice sweeping generalisation that all parents are on Centrelink. I felt like turning around and letting her know that actually I'm a nurse, and a damn good one at that. But I decided fighting some one while waiting to see Santa probably wasn't the best idea.

I will have to put a photo up once we collect them in a few days time. At least when he's tired he doesn't scream and cry. He just starts to fidget and make the cutest little noises. I could tell he was super tired though as he was nestling into my shoulder and he never does that.

So I guess in short I'm grateful for a cute and cuddly baby who doesn't scream and cry like a banshee.

I'm also grateful that I have nearly finished all my Christmas shopping so I can avoid the masses of people who decend on the mall at this time of year.

I don't know what it is about this time of year but people seem to forget they have a brain and like to walk at the pace of a snail and either stop in the middle of the walk way to have a chat to some one or stop at the top of an escalator to have a chin wag.

What are you grateful for this week?

Random Acts of Kindness

Nicole at Bubby Makes Three blogged recently about some very lovely people who have stopped and bestowed some kindness on her and her kiddies. I was going to comment on her post but thought it would be too lengthy for a comment box so I'll blog about it instead.

I blogged recently about my hellish trip to the mall to go Christmas shopping and the rude customer service I received at a few department stores. What I didn't mention however was me bestowing some kindness on a Grandma and her grand kids.

Now I should probably start off and mention, I hate it when you are lining up at a store and the checkout next to you opens and people from behind you go before you. Annoying right!?

Anyway, I was at Kmart and there weren't too many registers open so the line ups were crazy long. I was lined up behind the Grandma, who was lined up behind this lady who was buying half of Kmart and then paying with it all with a gazillion gift cards. This poor Grandma was beginning to look frazzled as her grand kids were getting a bit fidgety.

So the check up opens beside me and I was so tempted to just buy my one item and get the hell out of there. But the Nana looked at me with these tired weary eyes, and I just smiled and let her buy the toys in her hands.

And the best part? She was so grateful and so thankful and spoke to her grand kids about doing nice things for others.

Have you been the recipient of some random kindness lately? Or have you been the one spreading the kindness?

Fantastically freakin' awesome Friday

Incase you hadn't notice I'm so excited. A few things have made me happy this week, such as:

* Finding out Crazy 8 is having a sale.
I have never ever shopped/bought anything from an overseas site, but thought I'd have a look and have found some very cute things. Plus, I think I may have found someone to share the postages costs with. Can you say bargain?

* Harry Potter is the Mums and Bubs movie next week.
I thought for sure I wouldn't get to see it on the big screen and would have to wait for it to come out on DVD. But hoyts have granted my wish.

* This time next week we will be setting up the Christmas tree.
Finally. I have tried to convince hubby to set it up early but he has his heart set on waiting until December.

* I have nearly finished the Christmas shopping.
I have ordered a few things from some online stores, to save going to the hellish place which is the mall. Now fingers crossed they arrive with plenty of time to on post them to people's houses.

Happy weekend friends

Why Hello There Friday

You're back. Nice to see you again.

Yes it's that time of the week. It's almost the weekend. It's so close I can smell it's sweet sweet goodness. We have many-a-things planned for this weekend.

* Attend our 1st ever Farmers Market
We're nearly out of fresh fruit and vegies and have heard people raving about the farmer's market so thought we'd finally go. We're also hoping to score some cheap herbs or plants for the vegie patch out the back. Have also heard they have some beautiful cheap cut flowers. My vase needs something pretty to fill it.

* Hopefully plant said cheap herbs and plants

* Buy some Christmas Gifts
I saw some Toy Story playing cards and also a Toy Story puzzle for one of my nephews. It feels like Christmas is just around the corner so we should probably get organised and get searching for some gifts

* Make some Christmas Gifts
I'm making some name canvas's for my niece, God daughter and a few other special little people. Have been searching for some cheap canvas's and ribbon and other little trinkets. I have the majority of things I need so I can at least make a start

* Buy A Grobag
I'm thinking of slowly transitioning Malachi from the wrap to a grobag. I bought a 6-18 month 2.5 TOG one for at night but need a 1.0 TOG one for during the day. Hubby thinks they're a gimmick. But hey he thought the bumbo was a gimmick and he's eating his words now!!

I think that's really all that's on the agenda this weekend..... What have you got planned?

Cry Baby Cry

Yesterday we went and got M's needles done and it was bloody awful. Poor little guy had one in his thigh *cue screams and screams* then calms done a little then he got the other one in his thigh and went hysterical!!!! I was sitting in the room next door when it happened (was too much of a sook to hold him when he had them done). When we got home I took off his bandaids and gave him a dose of panadol and and he was all smiles as I was taking his bandaids off! Crazy boy.

He was measured and weighed again and has put on around 250gr in just over a week and is now 61cm tall!! No wonder some of his clothes look a little short!! He'll be in 00 in no time! He's lost one cm in his head circumference HAHA shows it depends who measures etc as we went to a different doctor and nurse this time. The doctor was a nut who told me I need iron as i look pale (code word for you look like shit lady!!) Gee way to make a new mum feel good.

My good little boy was still self settling (putting himself to sleep from awake without his dummy and without us patting, rocking etc) yesterday evening and overnight even after his needles, bless him! Mind you he is SOOOOOO noisy and constant in his protest grunts. I was tempted in the middle of the night to put him in his room so I didn’t have to hear him!! But he only woke once at around 130am and then after close to an hour of listening to the grunting I put a pillow over my head to try and get some sleep. I woke at around 630ish to little kicks in the back, turns out Hubby had had enough of the grunting and put M in the bed to get him to hush it!! What a lovely way to wake up, little kicks and BIG smiles.

He's still his smiling self so I think the worst of the effects of the immunisations is over. Though he had that rotovirus drink which means we need to be super careful when changing him for the next week or so so we don't get vomitting and diahhorea. I have mastitis and am on antibiotics (again) so that and the rotovirus drink means he's pooing like crazy. We've started calling him Stinky Pete (from Toy Story) because he smells so bad.

I start 'new parent group' September the 14th. It's weekly for 5 weeks with the maternal and child health nurse, and then after that you can keep the mother's group up and running by swapping numbers and organising the catch up ourselves (if that makes sense?)

I decided to dye my hair a darker colour as I thought the blonde made me look pale and pasty (obviously the Doctor still thinks I look pale even with dark hair). I got a full fringe too, but not sure I love the fringe. It's a fair bit of work to get it straight and I'm not used to having something on my face. Oh well it's something a bit different for a while.

I have found a new website that I LOVE the book depository cheap books :-) I bought 2 books from Big W today but I'm going to have to take them back as they were cheaper on this website.... and free shipping, got to love that. If only I was organised I could have bought Hubby's father's day present from there. Oh well I bought him two books from there, they'll just arrive after Father's Day. I had to restrain myself otherwise I could have bought MANY MANY books. Might have to leave my wish list out and hope Santa sees it :-)

One of Those Days

Master M has decided he'll only sleep in my arms today, so I apologise if my spelling and punctuation are not adequate :-) I dare not put him down incase he wakes up...... AGAIN!!!

I had many things on my to do list I was going to tackle today, but alas those things will have to wait until tomorrow. I have managed to extracate him from my arms and onto his lambs wool for 30 minutes so I have at least baked some biccies and vacuumed the kitchen. I think he might be getting a little sick, he sounds very snotty but I can't see any snot, figure that one out!!

We went out on the weekend with C so that was good. I need to gain more confidence with taking Malachi out by myself so the more we can go out with hubby the better. We went to the markets and got some tasty bread, fudge and nuts and also managed to go to Trade Secret and get another bra that's the right size. If only I didn't have such big boobs! I could only find one in my size but there were many a bargain to be had if you aren't so top heavy!

We are off tomorrow to a friend's place who had a baby boy 6 days after Malachi. It will be nice for them to 'meet' each other now they are outside in the big wide world.

The Weekend

Dear universe,
Why oh why do weekends go by so quickly? It's like one moment it's Friday afternoon and the next thing you know BAM it's Sunday afternoon and the husband is getting organised to go back to work.

We had a pretty lovely weekend. We went and saw Sherlock Holmes at the movies Friday evening. It was a good movie, with a few twists and turns that kept you guessing (and some eye candy to keep the ladies happy). Rachel McAdams was wonderful in it and they have left it open for a possible 2nd movie which the husband was happy about.

Saturday we got up relatively early and hit Target hoping to get some baby goods. Well the cruiser pram husband wanted to push around was sold out and they didn't have a store one to push. My guess is it's the universe trying to tell us it's a crappy pram and to get the new strider plus :-) Husband has a different interpretation but I like mine better. All we ended up getting from Target was 7 bibs. They sold out of the newborn sized huggies and all the clothes are sooooo gender specific that we'll have to wait until after our morphology scan to buy clothes.

We also headed to the baby shop and pushed a few prams around. LOVE THE NEW STRIDER!!! The girls at the shop said a new 3 wheeled strider is coming out in the next 6-8weeks so we'll wait until then and test drive that one. DH likes 3 wheel prams better so I might have more luck convincing him about the new strider if it has 3 wheels :-)

DH still doesn't see the point of the capsule that clips into the pram but the way I see it is if it clips into the pram then you don't wake bub's up going from car to pram (and maybe inside) and back again. BRILLIANT!! And we'll just sell it when we're done with it. Good idea if you ask me. Not so good if you ask DH. He just wants to hire one from some place for 6 months or so. I just don't see the point as you can't put the capsule into the pram, so you'll be waking the baby up to go from capsule to pram. There's no way I'd cart a capsule around the shops with me, they're quite heavy without a 3.5kg bub in it. He think it's cheaper just hiring one. Which is true, however if you sell the capsule I'm sure in the end the money thing will even out.

Sunday we had a lovely long sleep in followed by some yummy toasted hot cross buns and a nice day of pottering around the house doing not much. (Though does playing wii together count?)

Squirt turned 16 weeks yesterday! Crazy!! I can't believe the time is going so quickly, but slowly at the same time. I just can't wait to find out the sex in February. Lucky we've both agreed to find out the sex. I couldn't wait until the birth. I'm soo not a patient person.

What's Squirt up to this week: 16 weeks

* Squirt is now about the size of an avocado (11.6 centimetres long from crown to rump and weighing 100 grams).

* The circulatory system and urinary tract are in full working order, and she/he's inhaling and exhaling amniotic fluid through his lungs.

* Bub's is having fun playing with the umbilical cord

Mumma to be this week

* Apparently my uterus has expanded so much that the ligaments in my abdomen are stretching to make room for it (Maybe that's the pains I've been getting on either side of my belly?)

* My skin is still bloody annoying. I was hoping I'd start to see that lovely 'pregnancy glow' soon.

* Still waiting for the so called '2nd trimester energy boost'. Would love this soon :-)

* I think I've started putting on weight. I sneakily weighed myself on some Kmart scales yesterday (so not sure how accurate they were) but it said I'd put on 2kgs.
