I've been Slack

I have been a very slack blogger as of late, and really I have no excuse :-) I have been lazing around the house, sleeping in, nesting and pottering and cooking. It has been a lovely relaxing lead up to the birth of our little baby.

People keep asking me if I'm over being pregnant and the truth is I'm not. Now that bub's is no longer wedged up under my ribcage I'm feeling pretty good. Sleep is extremely hard to come by though. Not sure whether it's my body getting me used to the broken sleep now, or the constant toilet stops through out the night.

I'm feeling pretty zen about the whole labour thing. I have just ordered a TENS machine and express posted it down so that should be here early Friday morning, and I have my fingers and legs crossed bub's doesn't make an appearance between now and then as I've just paid $89 for the machine hire! C's parents rang on Sunday night and told him they have a feeling I'll go into labour on Thursday (no idea why they think this) so cue hubby running around like a mad man trying to get stuff organised. We have only just put the furniture into the baby's room. And I now need to pack all the clothes etc into the chest of drawers.

Hubby has also decided to be Mr Bossy and has ordered me to pack my hospital bag. I feel like my hospital bag is massive and I only have half the stuff in there so far. I also think I'm in denial too. Less than 2 weeks to go but I'm still pottering along not really stressing about the fact that we'll have a baby soon!!

I have been getting more twinges/back ache/period type pain etc so hopefully my body is preparing itself. I haven't gotten any BH contractions so I have no idea what a contraction feels like. I'm sure I'll know when I'm in labour though?

I had my first ever pedicure yesterday (my god daughter gave me a voucher for my bday way back in April) and I must say I'm hooked!! I had to focus on keeping my eyes open otherwise I'm sure I would have gone to sleep. Only problem is I wore closed in shoes so a few of my nails got smudged. Oh well there's an excuse to go back and have another one once bub's is born.

Now because I've been so slack I have 2 weeks worth of bump pics for you... ENJOY!! And yes that's the same shirt, oh the joys of a maternity wardrobe :-)

30 weeks

Woo hoo!! The countdown is on. Less than 4 weeks until maternity leave and (hopefully, fingers crossed) less than 10 weeks until I have my gorgeous bubba in my arms. I'm grinning from ear to ear. It's all down hill from here :-)

I ended up on the maternity ward Sunday night because I thought I was going into labour. I had constant cramping/spasms really low in my abdomen. Plus I hadn't felt bub's move in ages. Went and got monitored and all looks well. Bub's is breech and transverse so hopefully he/she decides to turn in the next 9 or so weeks! Bub's is measuring perfectly size wise too which is a load off my mine. I have decided to give 12 hour shifts the flick. I think that's what the problem is. That and another UTI!!

Squirt has been wiggling heads lately. I keep getting nice headbutts under my ribs, especially when I'm sitting and my posture is quite poor. Poor thing must be getting it's head squashed! And because of bub's position I'm getting nice kicks down low! Sometimes it feels like bub's is stretching out it's legs in some funny kind of way because I get mammoth movement on both sides simultaneously. It's an amazing, slightly strange feeling.

We have finally started looking at baby stuff. We ordered a cot and drawer/change table combo from Toys r us last weekend because they were half price so hopefully that should be here in the next 2 weeks or so. We've finally decided on a pram too now the only problem is they are out of stock of the pram here in Canberra and they won't be back in stock until June, which considering we are due early July is cutting it a little fine. But as long as we have it before bub's is born.

My in laws are coming down from QLD this weekend which should be lovely. They only saw us at the very beginning of pregnancy (around 6ish weeks) so they are excited to come down and see us again before bub's is born. Hopefully the baby behaves and they'll get to feel lots of movement while they are here.

Well better go have a shower before it gets too cold. I think the Canberra winter has started already. It was only 1-19 degrees down here today. Lucky we just bought a little oil radiator heater for bub's. Might have to turn it on tonight though and test it out :)

No I don't wear my wedding rings on my right hand,
it's just because I took my photo into the mirror :-)

21 Weeks Baby

Things are full steam ahead at our place. The rental looks like a bomb has hit there. There are boxes and boxes stacked everywhere ready to be taken to the new place and extra boxes thrown on the ground ready to be filled with all our junk. You honestly don't realise how much you accumulate until you have to pack it all up.

I have the joyous task of going through old uni textbooks/assignments/study notes this afternoon. BORING! But considering all I did last Saturday was give words of encouragement to the husband as I watched him pack up our bookcase I guess it's my turn to pack a few things.

Everything is going well with Squirt and I. It's been nearly two weeks since we found out bub's is probably a boy and I must say I'm so freaking excited! I think I just had to come to terms with the fact that my mother's intuition was way off. I did have a dream the night before our scan that bub's was a boy and we called him our favourite boys name. So who knows, maybe it was Squirt letting us know his sex early!?

Squirt at 21 Weeks

* Squirt now weighs about 360 grams.

* From crown to heel bub's is approximately 27 centimetres long.

* The eyebrows and eyelids are fully developed and the fingernails cover the fingertips.

* Our little baby can now hear our conversations. EEEK scary thought. Better make sure it's lovely words that come out of my mouth :-) Though I do put my angry voice on when Squirt is kicking like mad and it's sleep time. Doesn't do me much good though!

Mumma To Be

I've had a terrible few days at work so I'm so glad I'm on days off now. Sometimes I worry that the stress of my job is not good for our baby's health. I think I just need to remember at the end of the day I can only do so much and must put my health and the baby's health first. I have applied for my maternity leave (WOO HOO!) so my last day at work will be the 24th May. I am lucky and get 18 weeks paid maternity leave and 7 weeks of annual leave a year. I plan on taking all my leave at half pay so all up I'll have just under a year of leave at half pay. Pretty cool indeed.

21 Week Bump

Well I hear my uni textbooks calling my name. Must feed Squirt lunch and start the awful job of packing.

Happy 10 Week Birthday Squirt

Well much has happened since my last post including a few bouts of sickness, a few too many morning sickness chuck ups and a few too many kilos lost.

We had our dating scan on November 27th and all looked well with squirt. Dates were 2 days behind but we expected that... new EDD 4th July. We saw its little heart beating away at 167bpm and saw it moving its little legs too. Also saw the beginning of the umbilical cord. It was amazing. It's crazy how much they grow and achieve little milestones.

I have had tonsillitis and a headcold and a UTI in the space of 2 weeks. Just as I was getting over my tonsillitis this headcold appeared. I blame some sick person who sat next to me at the doctor's surgery Wednesday. GRRRR.

My poor nose is red raw from being blown so much. And the constant headache from blowing my nose is bloody annoying. All I've been taking is panadol but I think the worst is over now. (well fingers crossed anyway.)

So when I went and saw my GP Wednesday and he said I don't need the NT scan as I'm only 21 and DH 25 so our risk is low? Not sure if that's right or not? I was kind of hoping to have the scan before Xmas so then we could tell the rest of our family at Xmas time once we knew everything is okay with bubs.
Now we won't get to see Squirt until the 18-20 week morphology scan (which will be around 10 weeks since our dating scan at 9 weeks).

I'm thinking this is a long time? Im probably just freaking out about nothing but I don't see the midwives until 18 weeks, its kind of like Im left on my own for 10 weeks with no scan, appointments etc. Hmmm 1st time mum freaking out here!

I have lost around 5 kgs in 2ish weeks which my doctor isn't concerned about. Funny thing is I think I look bigger in my 7 week belly shot than I do my 10 week one because I've lost my 'padding'  LOL.

What's Squirt Up to This Week: Week 10

Squirt is only about three centimetres long from crown to rump and weighs less than four grams. Even so, it's busily swallowing and kicking. Each day more minute details start to appear, such as fingernails and peach-fuzzy hair.

The vital organs -- the liver, kidneys, intestines, brain, and lungs -- are fully formed and functional, while the head is almost half the length of the entire body. The forehead temporarily bulges and sits high on the head, but later will change into a more human-like feature.

If you could take a look at your baby this week, you'd be able to see the clear outline of his spine. Spinal nerves stretch out from the spinal cord.

And finally: Here's some belly shots: 7 Weeks, 8 Weeks and 10 Weeks
